It will re-air on WVIZ/PBS on Sunday, June 19, at 5 p.m., and will air in Europe on ORF TV on June 23. The program was taped in August 2010 at Severance Hall.
The Cleveland Orchestra in Performance: Bruckner Symphony No. 8 features the Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Möst presenting a rare performance of the 1887 revised version of the symphony, edited by Leopold Nowak. Also included in the program is a conversation between ideastream’s Dee Perry and Franz Welser-Möst along with the television program’s director, William Cosel.
The Cleveland Orchestra and WVIZ/PBS have an ongoing collaboration, most recently working on a series of television programs, including Bruckner’s Symphonies Nos. 5, 7 and 9, and a production of Mahler’s Symphony No. 10 and Des Knaben Wunderhorn, conducted by Pierre Boulez.
